The first Intellectual Property Court in China- Beijing Intellectual Property Court was established on November 6, 2014, and it has received 367 cases by December 20, 2014 since its establishment, including a number of cases which attracted much social attention.

According to the introduction by the relevant responsible person from the Case Filing Chamber of Beijing Intellectual Property Court, the 367 cases were primarily featured with administrative cases, foreign elements, and difficulty in technology. According to the statistics, the cases of granting and affirming right for patent and trademark accounted for 63.01% of the 367 cases, and the trademark administrative cases were increasing. And there were 122 cases involved patent, know-how and computer software technology, etc., which accounted for 48% of the total number.

It was learned that the Case Filing Chamber of Beijing Intellectual Property Court has received phone call and visits by the involved parties more than 800 times in the first month since its establishment, with an average reception of more than 40 times in each working day. At present, the Case Filing Chamber is researching and starting the work of unifying the standard of case filing. Meanwhile, they are also trying best to explore and protect the various mechanisms of litigious right of the involved parties, improve continuously the various measures for litigation services, in order to establish an open, transparent, professional, convenient and honest case filing mechanism. Due to the IP cases involve a large number of professional technical issues in different fields, the IP Court in Beijing will set up “technical investigator” to assist judges to solve technical problems.
